“Think of India as the Washington Nationals of Olympic sport. India is by far the worst-performing Olympic country—no matter how you slice it. It’s not for lack of trying. A games participant since 1900, India still ranks behind Nigeria, a country with an economy one twentieth India’s size, in total medals. The country’s athletic ineptitude is so profound that a parliamentarian called for two minutes of silence to “lament the demise of Indian sports” after the squad failed to win any medals in Barcelona in 1992.”

Indian prince to be prized guest at Swedish gay fest

Manvendra Singh Gohil, perhaps the only erstwhile Indian royal to have declared himself gay, is expected to be the main attraction at this year's StockholmPride, a famous global gay event, starting Friday.


StockholmPride will kick off at the prestigious and colourful Skansen, the oldest open air museum and nature park in the world, and will continue in other venues in the Swedish capital.

This year's the theme is "Swedish Sin, Breaking Borders", with the focus going beyond the Swedish borders on the situation for LGBT people.

The first actor to be animated in Indian film history??

India gets its first 3-D superhero, when south Indian film star Rajnikanth dons an animated persona for a forthcoming film titled- 'Sultan the Warrior'.
Rajnikanth, a regional star whose flamboyance is unequalled by Bollywood actors and who may have even more fans than super star Amitabh Bachchan, has become the first actor to be animated ever in Indian entertainment history.
His unique acting style is characterised by a trademark gesture - toss a cigarette in the air, catch it in his lips, then light it with a match struck on a shirtsleeve.
'Sultan the Warrior' will also see the superstar-actor fighting off villains in his trademark style, though with a lot more stylish gestures thrown in for the viewer's delight.
Movie with animated Rajnikanth playing the main protagonist is being produced jointly by the actor's daughter Saundarya Rajnikanth owned Ocher Studios and Warner Brothers.
